Downtown - Centre City
The newly redeveloped downtown thrives with museums, farmers markets, wine tasting and a lively nightlife. Some of the most active personalities come alive at night, where restaurants are bustling with activity until the wee hours of the morning and night clubs jam with eccentric beats. Part of the city center includes Horton Plaza, an ideal place to shuffle through while heading out into the downtown city streets; a typical mall, the parking structure might be the easiest adventure you survive here.
Gaslamp - aptly named as gas lamps literally line the streets, the area is filled with restaurants, night clubs, bars and a scattering of shops. Locals and tourists alike are found night and day walking up and down the streets, where you can catch a movie, dinner, dessert and drinks all by foot. Look around before stepping into the Urban Outfitters, Ghirardelli Chocolate soda and ice cream shop or Bitter End, and enjoy the historically preserved hotels and brick buildings left to wander San Diego's neighborhoods.
