Description:
- The Gaslamp area is a tough place for any restaurant to dominate, but this one is giving it a good try. It's also a late-night option, serving until 11p Thursday-Saturday, a rarity in San Diego. A Godiva chocolate martini has a big fan base, but the house specialty is the pomegranate martini. The eponymous gohan tabule dish bravely combines rice with avocado, cream cheese, shredded crab, plantains and Japanese eel sauce. Stick with the white pacific sea bass, not the Chilean, which is another fish entirely. Happy-hour specials slash prices on both appetizers and drinks. The pricy Sonoma-dominated wine list offers relatively few by-the-glass choices. - deTraci Regula
