Description:
- Chef-owner Alessandro Carollo was born in Palermo. When he was young, his grandfather passed on the family recipes that the Carollo family had enjoyed for generations. At only 14 years old, Alessandro entered Culinary school and began his career in traditional Sicilian restaurants like Francu u Piscature in Porticello and The Grand Hotel in Florence. Despite the hard-won reputation he earned in Italy, his real dream was to cook in America. Upon landing in San Diego, he first worked at Tuscany, La Costa, then became Executive Chef at Il Fornaio. Today, Chef Carollo presides over his own Venice Ristorante in La Jolla. Featuring the food of his ancestors, Venice also boasts Southern California's largest wine cellar, with over 4,000 bottles, including an amazing selection of Italian wines at every price range.
