- Now here's your beer love story. Ballast Point started as a homebrewing experiment, then morphed into a store (In 1992, good malt and hops were far and few in-between for someone not called "Anheuser-Busch"), which then morphed into back-room brewing company, then completed conversion (And the homebrewers are now smugly laughing), into a full-blown brewery.
Naming their beers after an affinity for fishing, Ballast Point has some fish for you to shoot in the bottle.
