Description:

My husband and I headed down to San Diego to visit my brother and to enjoy a relaxing weekend in the beautiful San Diego area with a moderate amount of activity and a moderate amount of chilling. With my brother's local advice we found a great mix of SD highlights and hidden gems.

Day Note:

We arrived Friday evening and headed over to Tom Ham's American Lighthouse for some delicious food with an incredible view and then retired to our lovely hotel.

    Description:

Located near the San Diego International Airport at the far tip of Harbor Island, this landmark lighthouse-style restaurant has been delighting patrons for years. The bayside view is spectacular, with Navy ships along the opposite shore and plenty of sailboats passing in the channel. Seafood dishes are brilliantly prepared, but the restaurant also offers steaks and other meats. Patrons are generally casually dressed, and there is entertainment in the adjacent lounge most nights.

Day Note:

We began the day with a lovely walk on cliffs of Del Mar. We then enjoyed a delicious brunch on the water at Poseidon. In the afternoon, we headed over to the famous Del Mar racetr*** to try to make enough ca*h to cover our drinks for the evening (it didn't happen). In the evening, we made our way to George's for the amazing view and the expensive c***tails. We then walked over to Roppongi for an amazing sushi dinner and enjoyed the La Jolla nightlife before...read more

    Description:

The Bayside Trail covers two miles along the eastern side of Cabrillo National Monument, along San Diego Bay. Starting at the parking lot by the Visitor's Center, the mostly paved trail passes the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, where interpretive panels tell visitors about the light's history. Descending through areas of coastal scrub toward the tip of Point Loma, the trail leads toward the ruins of the U.S. military defense system which was active during World Wars I and II and follows an abandoned Army road through the monument.

Day Note:

We spent some time on the Coronado beach and checked out the famous hotel. Then we got a ta*t of Ocean beach and the local culture at Nati's Mexican Restaurant before making our way to the airport.read more

Dine in sunshine or candle glow. This decades-old favorite is one of the bargains in nearby Ocean Beach. Lots of food at reasonable prices can be savored on the patio, inside surrounded by windows and wood or taken to the pier one block away. Standard Mexican dishes such as Burritos, Tacos and Enchiladas, and daily lunch and dinner specials are prepared with exceptionally high quality ingredients.
