- This self-proclaimed "dive" is in fact one of the hipper bars in the Outer Mission, and its status as a DINO (dive-in-name-only) is further reinforced by its location two doors down from Naps Only, one of the most epic true dive bars in The City. Remember, of course, that unless you're looking for a fight, are doing sociological research on semi-functional alcoholics, or simply must do karaoke in Spanish, a DINO is definitely a good thing, and El Rio is one of the best.
Whether you want to sip the night away quietly at the bar, take advantage of the Mission's balmy weather in a plush patio, play some table-top shuffleboard, or shake a leg to local rock bands, El Rio has it going on, often all in the same night.
