In a region so well known for its artists you would of course expect the museums and galleries to be top class. The San Francisco Bay Area does not disappoint. Modern and contemporary art is definitely the strong point, informally headquartered in San Francisco's northern SoMA district surrounding the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and SFMoMA.
