Our San Francisco Bay Area Local Expert says:
The menu changes seasonally at this exceedingly friendly neighborhood bistro. While some dishes, like the jalapeno and pancetta-spiked taglionlini, are consistent favorites, others, like the sweet corn ravioli, appear only in spring or fall, depending the availability of local ingredients. Other top choices include the osso bucco (often a special), crab cakes, the orecchiette, and the butternut squash ravioli. Oh, and save room for the chocolate souffle if you're a chocolate lover, or the apple tart, if you're not.

- This quaint Potrero Hill establishment is the perfect place for an intimate dinner for two. Come early, as dinner hours are usually crowded. The menu is a sampling of traditional Italian dishes with a twist. Vegetables, salads, and antipasto are offered as appetizers. Lunch and dinner items include a variety of pastas and a few fish and meat choices. The house specialty is the pasta and you will not be disappointed in any liguini, tortellini or spaghetti dish you chose. The wine list is limited, but certainly respectable for this small restaurant.

- ...crammed with tables, a tiny open kitchen and racks of wine. The no-reservations policy means there's often a wait, but the vibe is more relaxed than hectic. Gracious, efficient waiters cater to the typically Potrero Hill crowd: Upscale but casual arts types. The Food It likely won't redefine any notions of Tuscan cooking, but everything is fresh, well-prepared and appealing. To start, sumptuous crab cakes are awakened by a spicy aioli, while shaved sunchokes add an unexpected twist to a fennel, frisee and radicchio salad. Entrees are also dependable. Though pancetta can overwhelm the subtleties of... show full description
