The location is as charming as the dishes are delectable, but factor in some extra time for parking--it can be unpredictably challenging.

  • Description:

    • This is a neighborhood restaurant like only Noe Valley could do a neighborhood restaurant. The metal firefly above the door of this small (around twenty tables) cottage is half street art, half invitation into the warm, charming wood-filled interior. The menu changes often, highlighting the fresh and local, and hewing towards splendid homey variations of dishes you wish your grandmother had mastered. Think duck breast with brussels sprout and garlic mashed, seasonal fresh fish, or hearty meatloaf. Pair it with a local wine or one of the specially chosen beers selected to match the offerings on the menu. Locals make this spot a regular round in their dining out calendar, and it's worth it, just like a trip over the river and through the woods...

      Meh

    • Service was great, food was okay. Rice pudding (dessert) was on a honey philo something, it was so hard and sticky, almost inedible. Maybe we just went on an "off" day.

    Message from Firefly

Brad Levy is the Chef-Owner and has been since the restaurant's opening in 1993. He comes from Saint Louis where talking about food takes back seat to eating it. Gourmet palates and common folk alike have enjoyed his quirky Midwestern sensibilities for the past decade. Brad reflects "13 years ago, we opened our doors with not much money and a lot of passion for what we do. During the following years, we've been able to refine every aspect of our business and realize our dream of giving this city an elegant, unpretentious casual neighborhood restaurant; with attention to detail at every level, a cuisine all its own, and a caring, competent and knowledgeable staff." Firefly has always been committed to using ingredients that reflect our connection to our community: organic, locally grown produce when possible, and meats that are hormone and antibiotic free.
