Description:
- The War Memorial & Performing Arts Center is a series of cultural venues that make up the bulk of the public theater spaces around Civic Center. The Veterans Building, the War Memorial Opera House, Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall and Harold L. Zellerbach Rehearsal Hall make up this historic and beautiful cultural complex. The Opera House is home to the San Francisco Ballet and the San Francisco Opera, whereas the Veterans Building houses both the Herbst Theatre and Green Room.
The complex was also home to the meetings that led to the founding of the United Nations following World War II. The UN Charter was formally signed in the hall of the Veterans building, and a plaque inside the hall commemorates this historic event. - © NileGuide2013
