I would love to go white water rafting with my girlfriend next weekend. Do you know of any rafting places close to San Francisco?

Hi SuperAaron,
The closet places to do any rafting would be northeast of here...mostly on the American or Tualoume Rivers. Any of these will be somewhere between 90 - 120 miles from San Francisco. There are several adventure tour companies and rafting companies and I think perhaps Googling Northern California Rafting Companies" will help you decide what works for you in terms of price, style and location. You might have to rent a car to get to one of them but you might be able to take the train or a bus up to a couple of the locations.
I'm sorry...that's the best I can do....hope that's of some help.
Happy rafting!
Susan

I ended up going with American River Rafting and decided on the middle fork of the american river. Looks good. II to IV level rapids. Free camping. I wanted to go on an over night but it was too much at $300. So Im going on the one day for half that.
My girlfriend wanted an adventure for our 2nd anniversary. She was so excited about rafting trip when I told her last night.

I just went on this exact same trip with the American River Rafting company last week. It was amazing! We spent about 6 hours on the river and enjoyed every second of it. Prepare to get soaked there's no way you're going to avoid getting wet on this trip. If you want something even more intense you should try the north fork in the spring time. Slightly less intense is the south fork.
