The Question
Public Question Asked by nick about San Francisco
I have been living Foster City for the last 2 years but will be leaving this place in a few months. I have been to the usual places, SF city, GG bridge, Marin county, Monterey etc. I am looking for something new.. maybe a nice place to camp at .. or any other ideas ??

Hi Nick,
Here are a few suggestions that I have......
One place that I really like that is close to you, and worth a visit is the Rengstorff Victorian House. It has docent tours. In the same area is the Shoreline Lake Park...there are pedalboats, canoes, kayaks rowboats and sailboats available for rent. I rented a pedalboat and had fun going across the lake.
Wilder Ranch State Park in Santa Cruz is also very fun to visit. Many old restored buildings. There are 34 mi of hiking and bike trails. Wilder is only about 4 mi north of downtown Santa Cruz on Highway 1.
You said you wanted to camp. Have you been to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park? Great camping spots there.
For a really special time go to Vision Quest Ranch Bed and Breakfast in Monterey County. You stay in a tent...with running water and an elephant brings you breakfast in the morning. It is a little pricy.....but something you won't forget.
Hope you enjoyed your time living in the Bay Area....

IF you haven't been to Point Reyes and/or Tomales Bay if you haven't seen some of the most beautiful bays in the world. The drive north on Hwy. 1 all the way to Mendocino...glorious!

Seriously, the best places to camp at in Northern California around Redding, or go even further to Oregon. Otherwise, I have heard Yosemite is amazing. I have yet to go there there I have also camped around Santa Cruz- soooo pretty, and on the beach!
