Our favorite hike in the Bay Area is in Marin County - Mt Tamalpais is just 15 north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. They have several loop hikes and even the easiest one (the Pantoll hike) has the most amazing views looking out over the ocean and over to San Francisco. Check out the details at www.mttam.net.

A nice accessible and uncrowded hike is Ft. Cronkite beach trail which provides a nice loop with mild elevation change. The headlands of Marin have numerous trails that present easy hiking. Beautiful ocean views and wildlife. Bring your surfboard just in case, you may score some waves at the fickle Cron.

In addition to those mentioned, Point Bonita Lighthouse, Pt Reyes, Mount Diablo are all excellent hikes in the area.

Hi,
There are many, many good hikes in the Bay Area, depending on your ability to get to some of the places. For a short, urban hike, the Land's End from the Cliff House to the Golden Gate Bridge is very nice. For longer hikes there are Redwood Party in the Oakland Hills, Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County, Mt. Diablo in Costra Costa County and number walks along the beach in Stinson, Pt. Reyes and even along the waterfront from Emeryville to Richmond. Ft. Cronkite is excellent and, if you're getting up Tahoe Way there are several hikes as well but plan on a 4 hour drive with traffic.
Have a great time no matter where you go!
