Where do you recommend going to get a selection of foods that are gluten free?

there are a number of Whole Foods that should do the trick: one at 17th and Rhode Island St, one at Franklin and California, and one at 4th and Harrison, to name a few

Rainbow Grocery will satisfy your need, as well as Berkeley Bowl across the Bay Bridge. In terms of restaurants, newly opened Source might be a good bet, it's smack dab in the design district and claims to be vegan and vegetarian (and possibly gluten-free?)
