My favorite spots for great beer are:
Monk's Kettle - in the mission, tremendous beer list and excellent food as well.
Toronado - Lower Haight. Again, HUGE beer list and a hip and edgy crowd.
Bin 38 - Marina - pretty much a wine bar, but they also have some delicious Belgian and other imported beers.
