Description:
The World Series is back in San Francisco after an 8 year hiatus and local fans are stoked! The Giants haven't won a championship since 1954, after being thwarted in 1962, 1989, and 2002, but this year could just be the year, especially with mascots like "Panda" and slogans like "Fear the Beard" carrying fans through their "tortured" relationship with their beloved team. So if you're looking to find the best places to cheer on the Giants as they vie for another title, check out these excellent spots:
Sure, if you can swing tickets to watch the game at AT&T Park (1) then more power to you, but if you're worried about price and availability, check out Public House on Willie Mays Plaza-- it's got a great atmosphere and you're practically inside the park already. The Phoenix Irish Bar and Gathering House (2) in the Mission has friendly bartenders, excellent pub food, and plenty of TVs while Elixir (3) has been a San Francisco institution since the 1800s and specializes in homemade cocktails. Buck Tavern (4) caters to the LGBT sports fan with lots of TVs and a extensive menu, while Mad Dog in the Fog (5) usually shows championship games for any sport on a big projection screen. Head up to Harry's Bar (6) in Pacific Heights for daily food specials and great seating at their mahogany bar, or check out Kezar Pub (7) near the Haight-Ashbury where there isn't a bad seat or TV in the house. Final Final (8) in the Marina and Green's Sports Bar (9) on Russian Hill are local institutions that have been home to die-hard Giants fans for years. And if you're looking for a true local experience, check out Mucky Duck (10) in the Inner Sunset-- but if you're from Texas just don't expect any Ranger fans to show up. Go Giants!

Our Local Expert Says:
If you don’t fill up during the game, head out to one of SoMA’s great nearby eateries: Tres Agaves boasts wonderful haute Mexican food and top-shelf tequilas; Primo Patio serves up a delicious islands-inspired lunch menu; and South Park Café features refined yet unpretentious French cooking.
Description:
Baseball lovers would be remiss not to catch an open-air game at AT&T Park, home to MLB powerhouse the San Francisco Giants and the record-breaking feats of Barry Bonds. Built in 1997, AT&T Park is positioned on the bay in San Francisco's funky SoMA district and appeals even to fair-weather sports fans with its fantastic setting, beautiful views, and fun features, such as the 80-foot Coca-Cola bottle with playground slides. And then there's the matter of the park's top-notch eats. Where else in America could you expect to buy a gourmet sausage and garlic fries or a sushi roll for your mid-game snack?

Description:
Public House recently opened "inside," but outside the ballpark, with the assistance of San Francisco celebrity chef, Traci Des Jardins. They really did it right this time- huge beer selection that is constantly changing, outdoor seating, tons of TVs, and you can even bring your beer in a to-go cup inside the ballpark. Double fist it and save $10 bucks on your way in (if you have seats near the entry, you can even go back for more in the middle of the game)! It can get pretty busy before major games (especially on the weekends), but push your way though, snack on some delish nachos or stuffed jalapenos, and you'll forget all about the super expensive ballpark food you used to love.

Play a couple games of pool, watch the game on one of their big screen TVs, or mingle with a fantastic mixed crowd on afternoons and weekends at this Lower Market sports bar. LGBT softball and basketball teams make this their meeting spot after an outing in the sun, but the atmosphere welcomes all types. Check out their menu for one of the best burgers in the city.

Description:
If you think San Francisco sports fans aren't as enthusiastic as those on the East Coast, well, you're right. These days it's pretty easy to find an empty seat at Green's during a '49ers or Giants game. The city's de facto sports bar is a classic, cozy hangout with lots of dark wood, polished brass, windows that open onto the street, and an array of elevated TVs showing various sporting events via satellite. Highlights include 18 beers on tap, a pool table, and a boisterous happy-hour scene every Monday through Friday from 4 to 7pm. Food isn't served, but you can place an order from the various restaurants along Polk Street and eat at the bar (they even provide a selection of menus).
