So, you really want to get away from it all? Well, this is the place. To reach Black Rock, you travel 9.7km (6 miles) down a dirt road and 1.6km (1 mile) alongside the Macal River. The setting, on a high bluff overlooking the Macal River, is one of the nicest in the area. Swimming and inner tubing on the river from the lodge are excellent. The deluxe cabanas are truly beautiful, with stone floors, two queen beds, plenty of large screened windows, and views of the valley and river below from a private veranda. The standard cabanas and shared bathroom units are quite comfortable and beautifully situated as well. Meals are served in the large open-air dining room and main lodge area, which also has a fabulous view of the river below and forests all around. A full meal plan here will run you BZ$84 (US$42/£22) per day. A host of tours and activities is offered, and the staff is very friendly and attentive.
