Costa Rica International Marathon

Description:

  • This rare Central American marathon starts from the national stadium, traverses urban and suburban streets to the airport, and returns to finish where it started. Heat, nightfall, the hills and smog of San Jose, and limited municipal support make this a challenging event. Scenery and exotic locale make it worthwhile. Race-day registration and starting are somewhat unorganized (but friendly), and traffic restriction sometimes fails, leaving runners to face cars and buses in some sections. A half marathon starts simultaneously. Registration details, exact times and locations TBA.
