The Weaver's Gifts - San Jose

  • Description:

    • The Weaver's Gifts is part of the Guadalupe River Park & Gardens installed at Confluence point. It commemorates the era of the natives of Guadalupe and is mainly composed of four important elements. It has the names of the 54 tribal groups who moved to California inscribed on granite seat walls. A four feet high granite basket honors the creativity of the tribe and a five feet granite broken mortar (weaponry) symbolizes the broken tradition. An unfinished coiled stone basket that traces the history of the Ohlones through inscribed texts is also featured here. This ethnic artwork will appeal to those with an appreciation for art and to those with an interest in anthropology.
