Arecibo Observatory

  • Type: Museums
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Best movie set in rural Puerto Rico. The movie Contact, a fiction drama with Jodie Foster, was partially filmed here.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

The trip from San Juan is a bit long, but well worth it. The views of the rugged terrain and pristine flora make the trip very special.

    Description:

    • Operated by the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center of Cornell University in cooperation with the National Science Foundation, the Arecibo Observatory is the largest single-aperture telescope in history.
