Ah, romance. Whereas Zona Rosa's Tre Tretelli is a friendly neighborhood Italian, Señor Tenedor is all modern lines and sensual colors. Tenedor is on the first floor of an office building and looks from the outside like the building's cafeteria. But the inside is sleek and date-friendly with booths set beneath sweeping, translucent silk tied with deep red satin. And -- here's something you don't find in El Salvador every day -- Tenedor features live violin music Tuesday and Friday from 7 to 10pm. Tenador also offers numerous carpaccios, which is a style of modern Italian cooking involving thin slices of beef, fish, or vegetables beneath cheese, olive oil, and other toppers, a unique tobacco-and-rum-flavored steak, and a nice selection of international wines. A sophisticated antipasto lunch buffet is also offered daily. San Salvador has another Tenador location, but this 2-year-old spot is the more secluded and less crowded of the two.
