Description:

  • The port has always been extremely important to the city's economy, both for its commercial and fishing activities. Fishing is still an important function here to this day. Boats have docked here since medieval times, though the port's appearance today is the result of various extensions and remodellings undergone over the years, the most recent of which was completed in the 20th century. The apartment buildings along the quay, for example, were built in the late 19th century, and rest on the protective wall of the hill behind them. Today the quay is not only important for fishing, but also for leisure activities. You'll find a nice variety of typical restaurants serving fish (of course), the Aquarium and Museo Naval, or the mooring dock for sporting vessels.
