South Capitol

Heading south from the Plaza and across the Santa Fe River, visitors will bump into the main capitol campus for the state of New Mexico. While Santa Fe is the oldest state capitol in the country, it's easy to be fooled by some of the newer construction, but the colonial southwestern style construction of the campus' central tower stands as an homage to the past. Continuing south into the South Capitol neighborhood the past continues to mingle with the present as Victorian and Craftsman homes mix with Pueblo and other styles of contemporary southwestern styles. The eastern border of the neighborhood runs up against the Eastside and Museum Hill neighborhoods. Attractions include the Children's Museum, Armory for the Arts and Center for Contemporary Arts can be found here.
