NileGuide Expert Says:
With two locations, this traditional Mexican seafood restaurant has some of the best and freshest seafood in town. The shrimp and fish ceviche, served atop a crispy tostada, is always a winner, as is the generous mixed grill. Order in Spanish or English—the wait staff is friendly and attentive either way. Great oyster by the dozen, too.
Description:
Set in a shopping mall, this little cafe has brightly painted chairs and a mural with a beach scene, all setting the tone for the rollicking flavors served here. It was opened by two cousins who wanted to bring good Mexican playa (beach) food to the drylands, and judging from the crowds here (you may have to wait 15-20 min., but it's worth it), they've succeeded. It features such dishes as shrimp or fish tacos and pescado a la plancha (trout seasoned with butter, garlic, and paprika). It has lots of other shrimp dishes, all served with fries, rice, avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce. Chicken and steak fajitas are also popular. Wash it all down with a domestic or imported beer. There is a now a second location as well, at 2875 Cerrillos Rd. (tel. 505/473-4594).

Gluten-intolerant spouse craves tortillas. Marisco's has fish tacos with corn tortillas, and gluten-free rice, potatoes, tortilla chips and condiments. Initially I was not thrilled...
