Ristra - Santa Fe

  • Description:

    • Restaurateur Eric Lamalle describes the food at his restaurant as "spirited," and anything you order here will likely be unique, with flavors that you'll remember. Hearing the specials alone is like poetry: a blend of American favorites prepared with French and Southwestern accents. It's a quiet, comfortable restaurant within a century-old Victorian house decorated with contemporary art. Best of all is the patio during warm months, when you can watch the sun set. The service is completely professional and without pretense. You may want to start with squash blossom tempura with Boursin cheese or black Mediterranean mussels with chipotle and mint. For a main course, try the achiote elk tenderloin served with celery root puree and snow peas. For dessert, try the almond butter cake, with warm spiced apples and mascarpone caramel sauce. A long wine list covers the best wine regions of California and France; beer is also served. During warm months, request a table on the lovely patio. Locals like to sit at the candlelit bar and sample many wines by the glass and selections from the appetizer menu.

      not good

    • I was such a coward when asked if all was well. it was OK, I said. Just OK. Well actually not OK. Bland, bland, bland. I asked my husband what it had cost and what he thought of it...

      Wonderful evening

    • Another couple joined us for a wonderful memorable meal at Ristra last weekend. We ate on the terrace on a beautiful moonlit night. Each course was beautifully prepared and delicious....

      Overpriced

    • For the life of me I don't know why how this restaurant survives in a competitive town like Santa Fe. The food is decent but really overpriced.
