Description:

  • Vanessie is as much a piano bar as it is a restaurant. The talented musicians Doug Montgomery and Charles Tichenor hold forth at the keyboard, caressing the ivories with a repertoire that ranges from Bach to Barry Manilow. A brief menu, served at large, round, wooden tables beneath hanging plants in the main dining room or on a covered patio, varies little: rotisserie chicken, fresh fish, New York sirloin, filet mignon, Australian rock lobster, grilled shrimp, and rack of lamb. Portions are large; however, most are served a la carte, which bumps this restaurant up into the expensive category. For sides, you can order fresh vegetables, sautéed mushrooms, a baked potato, or an onion loaf (my mom raves about this). The "specialty dinners" come with starch and vegetable sides; I especially like the rotisserie chicken. For dessert, the slice of cheesecake served is large enough for three diners. There's a short wine list.

  • The Mother's Day Brunch was dismal. The food was awful, the presentation was terrible (jugs of labeled orange juice on the serving table), the prime rib and leg of lamb were hunks...

    Bar at Vanessie

  • The live band played blues music the night we were there. They were great, so much fun. Nice dance floor, large bar area. Good drinks. We will go back next time we are in Santa Fe.
