Description:

Take the natural beauty of the Santa Ynez Valley, throw in a dash of mystery, a rich history, and rustic cabins and you get Zaca Lake Retreat. Located off Foxen Canyon Road in the San Rafael Mountains, Zaca is the largest naturally occurring lake in Southern California. Once revered by the native Chumash population and explored by the likes of Jean-Michele Cousteau, the dark body of water is known for its points of immeasurable depth. Cabins surrounding the lake are simple with beds, a fireplace, barbecue pits out back, and a roomy bathtub that fills with mineral spring water. A main lodge has a hefty collection of board games as well as a large kitchen available for guests to make coffee and whip up simple meals to eat lakeside. Nearby trails are shrouded by lush vegetation and oak groves, and caves in the area are said to house hidden Chumash rock paintings. Whether you're in the mood for a quiet, romantic getaway or an adventure with the family, Zaca Lake Retreat's modest cabins and bucolic surroundings provide a respite away from whatever you need to escape.
