The Best of NileGuide
- Not being the biggest attraction in Northern Spain comes with its advantages. When San Sebastian and Bilbao are packed with tourists flocking to their more glamorized and hyped style of doing things, Santander is right there on the same piece of coastline, but without the lines, and that's a good thing for when you want to lay your head. Famous for its spas, Santander has grown its hospitality business into one of a sort-of resort town, sort-of small town vibe at the same time. Being a stretched out city means that most of the hotels are spread out from each other on the coastline, so you'll probably want a car. If beach-side resorts aren't your thing, Santander has seen an explosion of "rural tourism" where country-houses are converted into guest houses and provide for an interesting take on the tranquility of the Iberian way of life.
