Located on a small strip of bars in Santiago's middle-class Providencia neighborhood, not far from metro Salvador, is quirky, wood-floored, highly decorated Santo Remedio. A far cry from the posh moedern minimalist, backlit bars that have recently cropped up in the capital, this bar features zebra-patterned couches, warm lighting and a more classic feel.
Santo Remedio has been in business for over ten years, and in that time has developed a dedicated following of late twenties to early 40s clientele, who come for the atmosphere, the beer and the sexily named drinks, which pack a punch. Santo Remedio claims to have aphrodisiac drinks and food on the menu, and there is some erotic art on the walls, but you'll have to judge for yourself. Drink names include names like "everyone naked," and "passion for my skin."
Food on the menu includes a mix of pan-American, Asian and Chilean specialties, including a quinoa burger, chicken satay, beef with merlot sauce and a chicken curry. The bar is popular during happy hour, for the after-office crowd, and until the wee hours for those who don't have to wake up early on Saturday or Sunday.
