NileGuide Expert Says:
One of the best cups of coffee in Santiago, hands down.
NileGuide Expert tip:
Come here before the theater, or pop in after for a late night cup of coffee, snack or dessert.
- Soledad and Ian's cozy cafe in front of a theater in hopping, cute, cobblestoned Lastarria is sure to be a Santiago success. They serve organic, free-trade Lama coffee in a comfortable, cozy environment with both indoor and outdoor seating, with pretty details such as a glass bottle on every table, and mugs and cups with their logo: wonderful emblazoned on each one.
The coffee is strong, good, and not over-roasted and they serve a Santiago-made bagel (from Montreal Bagels) with cream cheese, salmon and capers, and have many desserts including a perfect crispy pain au chocolate, a flourless chocolate cake, and a mango cheesecake that people rave about. There is usually a quiche on offer as well, and other smaller cafe fare, which is all prepared fresh, and the lettuce in the salads is organic.
The cappuccino and latte art is varied, from puppies to fern leaves, and the occasional ladybug. Wondering what design will come out is almost as fun as drinking it down. The location is perfect for people-watching, as it's at the entrance of a theater and on one of Santiago's most popular pedestrian thoroughfares.
