- Even if you just have a minute to step in, don't miss the new cultural center on Avda. Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins (the Alameda), just steps from the U. de Chile metro stop. It's a giant modern building split in two halves, with expo spaces for photography, a pleasant plaza, an acoustically perfect (or near perfect) auditoriam and lots of interesting interior spaces, including a giant wooden spiral staircase in gleaming local woods. Copper is also present in the construction, and while it's a strange building to come across in the middle of Santiago, it is definitely worth your whie.
There are many cycles of dance, performance and theater, and tickets are reasonably priced. It's taking Santiago by storm and if nothing else, makes a great place to take a break and engage in some people watching.
