Ryan, I would like to suggest you to take a bus Santiago to Temuco, Valdivia or Pucon on night (if you get a cama bus you could even sleep very well for around 100 usd ticket). The way from Santiago to south is just by the high way so it's not much interestin.... better save energy and time and you could rent a car when you arrive at any of the southen cities and take a nice trip on the 7 lakes district.

Hello Ryan

I would like to say it´s hard to find someone to share with you rental car expenses.
Anyway we always have CARS in promotion.
You can first go to Valparaiso and Viña del Mar a charm town.
Cause the lakes in Chile are located in the sourth.
We have another woderfull trips if you desire.
