Description:
Founded by Christopher Columbus's brother Bartolomeo in 1496, Santo Domingo was the first European settlement in the New World. As Spain's primary jumping-off point for regional exploration, the city was a bustling hub of the Caribbean, where life and commerce thrived in the Americas. Today, this buzzing capital offers ample dining, shopping and nightlife opportunities, along with hotel options that range from tiny family-owned guest houses to international hotel chains.

Excellent food, even better decor. It's just one location, so I'd recommend making reservations. The price range is fair and the restaurant is located in one of the oldest modern neighborhoods in the city of Santo Domingo right in the center of the city.

A veritable institution in the capital, Segafredo maintains its reputation as the go-to place for a drink and a bite in the Colonial Zone. It's always crowded, bustling with the young, hip and alternative crowd. The service could be better (much better), but the atmosphere and company of the young, interesting and beautiful makes up for the forgotten drinks and the less-than-attentive servers. They have a good sized menu, with a nice...

Don't let its name fool you; this is no pizza joint or greasy little Italian bistro. Entering its patio, you will be intrigued by the fairy lights lighting all the cropped, perfect little topiaries on every side, these trumped by a full size royal palm growing through the floor. The setting is elegant, slightly subdued, with the whiff of class permeating the impeccably laid table linens. The service is impeccable: the food even more so. Although...

Description:
Falafel has nestled itself in a cave-like nook of the colonial zone: the building where it is housed has been beautifully restored preserving its ruin-like state. Enjoying Middle Eastern fare will have a different meaning as you're staring up at the stars or admiring the century-old stone walls that have yielded to time but now offer a perfect frame for a starry night and the crowd that flock to enjoy the house specialty. As the name suggests, it is the falafel. Their piece de resistance is heavy with savoury spices, the flatbread impeccably elastic and yielding, served with 3 sauces on the side (tahini, ketchup and chilli), presented in the decade-old squeezy bottles, there is an element of fun and childlikeness at squeezing all your condiments onto your wrap, trying to stretch your jaw to consume bites of the whole experience: bread, falafel, tomato and sauce. Thankfully, they provide plenty of napkins. The service is less than stellar, but made up in good humour, disposition and friendliness by the staff. Sauntering down for drinks and an appetizer is a thoroughly good idea: the babaganoush and hummous are creamy and moreish, the mini pita breads... read more

Description:
Jet Set sings of elegance, boasting the finest orchestras and the most sophisticated ambience of any nightspot in the city. Amphitheater-style architecture may remind you of tiered dance halls depicted in old Hollywood movies, but the atmosphere is neither archaic nor boring. In fact, this is the best place in the city to take a date for dancing and intimacy. Since the club only allows couples to attend, doors are shut to more raucous party crowds.
