The Best of NileGuide
- The next nightlife hotspot might just rise and fall before you finish this paragraph. Paulistanos living a vida noturna are a fickle sort. Certain assumptions, however, remain safe. Vila Madalena and Vila Olimpia continue as homes to the city's most fashionable clubs and bars. Other neighborhoods are ascending to challenge for the crown though. Downtown, particularly Barra Funda, is again attracting partiers after the sun sets. Rua Augusta in Bela Vista once featured little more than strip clubs and brothels. The x-rated establishments are still there but so too are a number of hip (and reputable) hangouts, such as Vegas Club, Sarajevo and Sonique. The gastro-pubs along Rua Joaquim Távora in Vila Mariana are great for grabbing drinks and/or grub with friends. Chic clubs, bars and lounges predominate in districts such as Moema, Jardins and Itaim-Bibi. Pinheiros, meanwhile, tends to appeal more to blue-collar and hipster crowds.
