Best place to see Christmas lights
Paulista Ave, São Paulo - São Paulo, Brazil
NileGuide Expert tip:
Broadway and Wall Street rolled into one, the Paulista in recent years has become a safe place to walk at night.
Paulistanos joke that Avenida Paulista is like love; it starts in Paraíso and ends in Consolação (both neighborhoods). One of São Paulo's principal arteries, the Paulista wastes little space along its 2.7 km corridor. The avenue is home to some of the priciest real-estate in all of Latin America. With more than 10 banks having their Brazilian headquarters here, the street accounts for 1% of the entire country's GDP. It is also one of the city's principal shopping destinations, but the boulevard is not business and commerce all of the time. The Paulista also offers visitors a shaded park (Trianon
), a world-class art museum (MASP
), cultural centers, universities, restaurants and two top bookstores (Livraria Cultural
). The streets on either side of the thoroughfare pulsate with nightlife and culinary destinations. Apart from the many buses that traverse the Paulista, it also has three Metro stops: Brigadeiro, Trianon-MASP and Consolação.
