• You don't have to travel to New York, Chicago, Las Vegas or LA to hear comedians who appear on network television shows, on a Vegas stage or in the movies. Week after week McCurdy's Comedy Theatre brings headliners from across the globe to Sarasota. These headliners appear Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. A second show (when smoking is permitted) is held at 9:45 on Fridays and Saturdays.  You can even find out in advance if the headliner's routine will be bawdy or clean. On one Monday a month, at 7:00 p.m., McCurdy's also holds a family night. In their effort to discover talented newcomers, on Wednesdays and Thursdays McCurdy's holds open mike nights as three or four amateurs test their material on a live audience before the national headliner takes the stage. McCurdy tickets can be purchased on their website, by phone or at the box office. You will probably want to eat before the show unless you enjoy feasting on hot dogs, personal pizzas, soft pretzels or other gourmet delights. The theatre is wheel chair accessible.
