National Museum of Dance & Hall of Fame

Description:

  • Housed in the old Washington Bath House, a handsome European-style mineral spa built in 1918, this is the only museum in the country dedicated to American professional dance. Its archives, photographs, and exhibits of sets and costumes chronicle a century of dance. The museum is also a place that makes new contributions to the field; on-site are three full-size dance studios modeled after those of the New York City Ballet, which not coincidentally takes up residence in Saratoga Springs every July. Visitors have the opportunity to view rehearsals as well as participate in workshops, classes, and lectures. For children or adults interested in dance, the museum's programs are excellent learning tools. Plan on about a half-hour, unless there are rehearsals or workshops.
