In case you didn't know, Crudo means raw in Italian, but it would be misleading to say that the fare at this low-key Scottsdale eatery--tucked inside an upscale hair salon, of all places--is all raw. The cafe specializes in Italian-style sashimi, meaning the fresh saltwater fish is lovingly prepared with more basil and vinaigrette than ginger. Aside from Crudo's inventive take on sashimi, Crudo also specializes in mouth-watering
piatti (fully cooked plates), such as their squid ink risotto. If haute Italian cuisine in an unpretentious and unconventional setting appeals to you, Crudo is indeed a rare find.
