204 N 85th St, Seattle, WA, United States
This small, modern theatre still retains the charm from the building's 1930s movie house days. Founded in 1976 by several Seattle Pacific University graduates, Taproot got its start as a touring group and is now one of the city's largest mid-size theatre companies entertaining over 150,000 guests annually. In addition to a full season on the main stage, Taproot features touring programs and an acting studio.
Taproot Theatre is a member of Theatre Communications Group, Theatre Puget Sound and the Greenwood-Phinney Chamber of Commerce. Tickets usually range from $20 to $35, depending on the show, and discounts are available for seniors, students and parties of 8 or more. There is a parking lot directly behind the theatre, and the route 5 bus from downtown will take you straight to the intersection. A small concession stand is available during intermission, and the staff is quite welcoming, working to ensure visitors have an enjoyable night at the theatre.
