• This small, modern theatre still retains the charm from the building's 1930s movie house days. Founded in 1976 by several Seattle Pacific University graduates, Taproot got its start as a touring group and is now one of the city's largest mid-size theatre companies entertaining over 150,000 guests annually. In addition to a full season on the main stage, Taproot features touring programs and an acting studio.
  
  Taproot Theatre is a member of Theatre Communications Group, Theatre Puget Sound and the Greenwood-Phinney Chamber of Commerce. Tickets usually range from $20 to $35, depending on the show, and discounts are available for seniors, students and parties of 8 or more. There is a parking lot directly behind the theatre, and the route 5 bus from downtown will take you straight to the intersection.
