More than museums and libraries – Seattle is filled with fun activities and events for all ages, from hunting ghosts to catching some rays at the beach. Contrary to the city's sometimes dreary, serious reputation, Seattle has lots to offer anyone looking for fun things to do.
Pike Place Market is definitely high up on the list of must-sees for anyone visiting Seattle; but why not ramp up the fun with a ghost tour? The Market is known as one of the most haunted places in the city, and on the Market Ghost Tour, you'll hear – and maybe see – why.
The Waterfront and Seattle Center are two well-known fun attractions, and for good reason; a family could easily spend an entire day at either and not run out of things to do. With its rare combination of education and hilarious, The Underground Tour topped our list at number three; an hour-long walk through the remains of the original Seattle below ground, largely destroyed by a fire in the late 1800s.
Looking for fun in the outdoors? Lake Union is a great place to picnic, play sports, and rent sailboats on a clear day. A ferry ride is entertainment in itself, and the Washington State Ferries can take you to Bainbridge, Bremerton and more. Or hop on a water taxi from downtown and cruise over to Alki Beach for sand, sun and volleyball.
The EMP/SFM is a great two-for-one deal, and neither are your run-of-the-mill museums. The Sci-Fi museum has plenty of futuristic interactive games, and over at the EMP, an entire floor is dedicated to the sound lab, where future rock stars can play guitars, keyboards and drums, and even make recordings.
