Fremont, Wallingford & Green Lake
The Fremont, Wallingford and Green Lake areas are each unique neighborhoods north of downtown with their own day and nighttime attractions.
Fremont is the self-professed "Center of the Universe," a neighborhood filled with Thai restaurants, eclectic clothes shops, and of course, cafes. From the statue of Lenin to the annual Solstice Parade complete with nude cyclists, you never know what to expect in Fremont. Be sure to visit the Woodland Park Zoo and the infamous Fremont Troll lurking beneath the north end of the Aurora bridge.
Wallingford is a great area to spend a sunny day, with Gas Works Park on Lake Union, Meridian Playground and Lower Woodland Park providing great areas for families to play frisbee and have a picnic.
Green Lake is a neighborhood named for its lake, and features one of the best-loved parks in Seattle. The Green Lake park has nearly 3 miles of path for biking, skating and running, with other athletic fields and water sports available at the lake.
