Description:

  • This Belltown eatery opened in 1997. Since then, chef/owner Jacques Sarr's West African den has proved a big hit, not least because it serves a cuisine not easily found in Seattle: Senegalese. The basics are fairly familiar: rice and couscous with meat, fish and vegetables. But the blend of sweet and sour spices takes the food in unexpected directions. The house specialty is Thiebu Djen, halibut served with root vegetables and spices. Try the yogurt Thiakry for dessert. No alcohol is served; order the ginger root and pineapple juice instead.
