- The Scene
A whimsical cast of vintage paper dolls greets you upon entering the cozy confines of this refurbished filling station, while the singular server whisks by, acknowledging your arrival with a warm smile. If you come on a weekend night, don't forget to make reservations; the tables fill up fast and the menu's rich offerings make a languid dining pace mandatory.
Few can rival this homey joint's knack for combining artful presentation and home-style decadence. Start with the Blue salad--romaine leaves tossed with apples, smoked chicken and a generous slathering of blue cheese dressing. Except for the excellent signature dishes--tuna-noodle casserole and mac and cheese--the pasta dishes are passable, but best skipped in favor of flawless, oversized entrees such as boneless duck breast with maple-sausage glaze, herb-encrusted filet mignon and heavenly fried chicken with whipped Yukon gold potatoes.
