Joeys - Seattle

  • Description:

    • The Scene
This smartly casual Canadian chain expanding south of the border offers swank leather menus, a backlit bar, leather chairs, big banquette booths and a money-shot view of Lake Union and Queen Anne. Suits with expense accounts take over at lunch; at night, it's a combo of a guys-night-out crowd mixed with young professionals enjoying the scenery. Servers are gorgeous as a rule, and can rattle off the menu by heart.

      The Food
The restaurant's inventive neo-American fare is better than it lets on. Playful ahi tuna tacos pack wonton "taco shells" with Asian coleslaw and a slightly spicy wasabi-lime aioli. Salad-lovers order the Evil Jungle Noodle Salad, chock full of grilled chicken breast, mango and avocado with a gingery dressing. The West Coast Halibut is Indian-themed, sitting in a curry yogurt honey sauce. Dessert includes an oozing molten chocolate lave souffle and a sweet passion fruit cheesecake.

      Too much!

    • The food at Joey's is pretty good, but it is frankly overpriced. The ambiance is that of a slightly upscale chain restaurant, and there are pretty nice views out to the lake....
