NileGuide Expert Says:
Quintessential soul food is still available up north. Succulent ribs, deliciously enormous crab cakes, grits and collard greens are all on the menu. The staff are warm and inviting. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with mismatched antique tables and a beautiful salvaged bar from the late 1800's.
Description:
- The sweet chatter and long lines streaming out of this quiet storefront on the eastern slope of Capitol Hill are a bit jarring. But, the Coaston sisters' urban soul food lets locals experience a real down-home time. If the artfully presented platters of Creole Gumbo with cornbread, or Buttermilk Fried Chicken with collard greens don't fulfill those Southern cravings, then maybe the multi-tiered chocolate cake or the cream-slathered strawberry shortcake will. No credit cards or reservations are accepted. Beer and wine are served.

What a great find on a recent trip to Seattle. Loved the energy and vibe while waiting at the bar. Once seated we were in heaven with everything we ordered. LOVED it.
