NileGuide Expert Says:
The Library Bar is a beautiful spot for a martini, filled with books, deep velvet booths and dark wood paneling, check out the collection of books over the bar which includes the Complete Guide to Mental Retardation. It's within walking distance of Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, downtown shopping and the Monorail.
Description:
- Want to read while you eat? Introduce yourself to books and good food at the Library Bistro. Contemporary American food and a bookstore contribute to the comfortable feel at this restaurant. High backed booths, ten-foot high bookcases, and oiled oak floors will take you back to the 1940's. The drinks list consists of literary-named cocktails and an extensive wine list. The Bookstore Bar features a wide variety of microbrews, imports, wines from the Northwest, and coffee. You can actually buy the books of your choice as you wait for your order to arrive. Visit this place on a beautiful summer day and avail of the outdoor seating.

Great little bar off the entrance to the Alexis
-
We enjoyed stopping at this little bar for a nightcap before heading up to our room while staying at the Alexis. Great bartenders. Good drinks. Nice ambiance. We had plans to eat...

Charming, but poor service
-
Great atmosphere, tiny little bookstore bar, but the waitress could not remember our order of drinks and would disappear for long periods of time.

Good food, but not a great bar...
-
Bar is a little small and over priced. The bistro is separate and much larger. Had the corned beef hash for brunch and it was quite good. Prices were OK for being in the city.

Message from Library Bistro
The Bookstore Bar is proud to receive the nod for Best Hotel Bar in Seattle in Seattle Magazine's "Best of 2003." Conveniently located on First Avenue (and Madison), the Bookstore Bar can be entered from First Avenue or via the entrance to the Alexis Hotel. The Bookstore Bar features a wide variety of microbrews, imports, wines from the Northwest and from around the world, specialty drinks and coffee. It also boasts one of the largest selections of single malt scotches in the city, with more than 50 to choose from. The same dishes that Chef Warner offers next door at the Library Bistro can be ordered in the Bookstore Bar. Lunch entrees include fish and chips and smoked salmon salad. The Bookstore Bar not only permits the smoking of cigarettes and cigars, but it sells them too.
