Bon Odori - Seattle

  • Description:

    • Whether you're a practicing Buddhist or simply curious about Buddhist practice and celebration, check out this festival, held at Seattle Buddhist Temple. An official Seafair event, the festival includes demonstrations of kendo (Japanese fencing with bamboo swords), drum performances and traditional Japanese dancing, which is Bon Odori itself. Visitors can also sample a variety of traditional Japanese foods, including bento, sushi, yakisoba and kori (flavored shave ice). If none of that tempts you, there will also be burgers and hot dogs for the less adventurous. The Beer Garden, featuring a live band, serves beer and sake. Admission to the festival is free.
