    • It's hard to give a description that will inspire as much awe as visiting this park will do. Not only can you see the Seattle Skyline over Lake Union from a beautiful hilltop, but there's this giant crazy maroon industrial structure (the old gasworks) just sitting there in perfect contrast to the almost neon grassy lawn. The structure just gets to you- it's an intense juxtaposition to sit right next to it and enjoy such a beautiful natural setting. There's plenty to do here to fill an afternoon, for free: play frisbee or fly kites, walk around, mess around on the playground, set up a tightrope between trees or poles, watch boats floating in the lake, people watch, have a picnic, lay on the grass and stare at the sky, walk down to the water and stick your feet in (I've actually gone swimming here but I don't recommend it- let's just say no one does it unless they're not in their right mind at the time). If you're here at the right time, there are sometimes events to watch from here, such as the Tail of the Lake Regatta or the Solstice Parade. This is just a beautiful and interesting park.
