James Island State Park - Seattle

    • James Island State Park covers 113 acres with 12,000 feet of saltwater shoreline on Rosario Strait. Boating structures include a 121-foot pier, four mooring buoys and a 12 x 45 ft moorage float with 134 feet of moorage float space. There are 1.5 miles of hiking trails in the park.

      Other park amenities include one water trail site, 13 primitive campsites, a picnic shelter, two vault toilets, three pit toilets. There is no drinking water in the park and garbage must be packed out.

      Facility use is first come, first served, with continuous moorage limited to three consecutive nights. Fees are charged year around. Current fees are $8 a night or $50 a year for boats under 26 feet in length. Fees are $11 a night or $80 a year for boats more than 26 feet in length. Fees for moorage buoys are $5 per night. Call (360) 753-5771 for a fee update as all fees are subject to change.

      Park activities include primitive camping, picnicking, hiking, saltwater fishing and scuba diving.

      James Island State Park is accessible only by boat 1/2 mile east of Decatur Island on Rosario Strait in San Juan County (Township 35N, Range 1W, in parts of Section 14 and 23).
