Description:
- Lost Creek Ridge Trail is a strenuous 11 mile hike. The trail begins off Sloan Creek Road #49 and ends at Camp Lake. The trail climbs steeply through open woods for 3 miles to Bingly Gap at 4425 feet. The route enters Glacier Peak Wilderness and continues to climb up along the ridge to meadows and a saddle overlooking 12 acre Round Lake at 5100 feet. A short side trail drops down to the lake. Campsites can be found among the trees around the lake. The main trail continues past 0.4 acre Sun-Up Lake at 5300 feet. The trail becomes harder to follow as it is more of a matter of following boot tread and trail blazes. Continuing on, hikers pass through vast meadows, open basins and 0.7 acre Hardtack Lake at 5450 feet. At 11 miles, hikers finally reach 9.9 acre Camp Lake at 5700 feet.
From here the Lake Byrne Trail climbs to a knoll then drops to a rocky basin and descends to 51.2 acre Lake Byrne at 5550 feet. At this point, the trail descends 2250 feet for 2 miles to Kennedy Hot Springs and the junction with the White Chuck Trail #643.
